Holiday Baking

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. This means before Christmas rolls around there is one last thing to do, its holiday baking! I believe most family’s at this time of year participate in some form of baking in a holiday manner. My family likes to make a big deal of it. Usually my family is very healthy and we watch what we eat very closely. This day gives us a chance to let go of the heath strings just for a while and pig-out on all of the delectable treats we make, while enjoying time with family. We make loads of candy and pass off all of the extras to friends and family. We hand make everything from cherry bars, fudge, sugar cookies, chocolate and Carmel turtles to even some secret recipes that only my family makes. Cousins and grandparents from out of town and even out of state come and visit on this day.

After the festivities are over there are still containers of sweet treats left to remember the wonderful day by. We send a package of goodies to my grandparents down in Florida; and my dad takes some to work for the rest of his employees to enjoy. I think holiday baking brings everyone closer, not just within a family but also with your friends because everyone brings their treats around to share, and spread the joy of what is soon to be Christmas, Hanukah, or whatever you may celebrate this time of year. For me the most important part about holiday baking day is just getting into the spirit for Christmas, it is like the introduction to how wonderful Christmas will be. (278)
